They ask, “What do you do for a living?”
I reply, “I’m a DJ”
There are very few better ways to make a conversation go in your favour. Music has always been my passion, my lifeblood and the thing that I am eternally grateful to earn money from. I have been DJ’ing since 1999, when a boot-strapped, belt driven set of turntables occupied my study desk, and there was always a fiscal stand-off between buying books (remember them?), or vinyls.
Today, I am one half of the The Lovesoul DJ’s, a duo formed when my cousin and business/DJ partner, Vik Morjaria, decided he also wanted to get behind the turntables in 2006. I love to DJ cross-genre, from Hip-Hop to House, Rock to Rave, Soul, Pop, Old School and everything in-between. We’ve managed to see a slice of the whole scene in the last four years, from VIP Award Show Afterparties, to huge private events and some big budget corporate soirees.
